Why Colombia??

Many of you know that we have been in the domestic infant adoption program through CHSFS for 2 years. In June we found out that they were no longer going to be doing the pregnancy counseling program which in turn meant less matches being made. We had a couple decisions to make and we wanted to make a quick one. Our decisions were:
1. Change agencies and start all over in the domestic program
2. Stay in the domestic program and network out
3. Change to an international program (which we were going to next year anyways)
Obviously we decided to change to international. We had 2 countries in mind Korea and Colombia. We opted to check out Korea 1st because there is little to no travel involved. We soon found out though that we couldn't go with them because out BMI's were too high. So Colombia it was with a lot longer travel time. We researched Colombia and while looking at the waiting international children photolisting we read out a little girl born in early 2011. We had been asked earlier in the year if we were interested in her but we weren't ready to swtich to international at that time. But, she just happened to still be waiting and was absolutely adorable and we couldn't resist.
After we inquired about her they sent us on our paper chase thinking that the adoption house was not going to accept us until our dossier was complete. We were called about a week later (while Jodi was taking her personality test) that they had accepted us based on our letter, photos and domestic home study that we sent there. Suprised us and suprised them that they were willing to do that.
So now, we just finished up all of our paperwork and are in the "waiting" game again. That seems to be a common word while adopting.
Keep an eye on the blog as we update our exciting news. We are ready to show the world our little girl and be advocates for children and adults like her.
